AlongWave CEO Featured in The Superyacht Report – Owners Focus

Dr. Georgia Kalantzi, Co-founder and CEO of AlongWave, has contributed a guest column to the latest edition of The Superyacht Report – Owners Focus, Issue 230, published by The Superyacht Group.

The article explores a critical challenge in maritime operations: a marine-weather forecast is not, by itself, an operational decision. Rather than asking only “What does the forecast say?”, Georgia highlights the importance of understanding how a forecast might be wrong, the uncertainty behind it, and whether operations are prepared for that uncertainty.

This perspective lies at the heart of AlongWave’s approach to marine weather intelligence. By combining ocean science, in-situ observations, marine weather data and physics-aware AI, AlongWave aims to move beyond simply representing or predicting sea state toward information that is understood, validated and operationally useful.

For maritime professionals, making uncertainty visible and useful can support more confident decisions around operational thresholds, timing, alternatives and risk — particularly when conditions at sea do not evolve exactly as forecast.

Special thanks to Felicity Salmon and The Superyacht Group team for the opportunity to contribute to the publication.
